Description
The Christmas spirit will return this year with J.S. Bach's wonderful and atmospheric Christmas Oratorio during the first Sunday of Advent with a concert in St. John's Church.
The Finnish Oratorio Choir offers an extra interesting and atmospheric concert, which begins with the characteristic first cantata from the Christmas oratorio but then continues with the less frequently performed cantatas 4-6. The cantatas are performed on period instruments.
Helsinki is atmospheric and beautiful during Advent. Come and spend the evening before the first Advent Sunday in the centre of Helsinki and enjoy the Christmas Oratorio in the beautiful church after some Christmas shopping, or a visit to one of the wonderful restaurants or cafés in the centre of the town.
J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio is performed by the Finnish Baroque Orchestra (FiBO), the Christmas Oratorio Choir, which consists of singers from the Finnish Oratorio Choir and soloists from the Sibelius Academy's soloist programme under the direction of conductor Ruut Kiiski.
