Description
Hysteria Mundi – Improvisations on Global Politics is the 30th anniversary work of K&C Kekäläinen & Company.
This work continues the research into physicality, gender diversity and social change that has been ongoing for over four decades by dance artist Sanna Kekäläinen.
The work Studien über Hysterie by Sanna Kekäläinen, a pioneer of contemporary dance, is an undisputed classic in the history of Finnish contemporary dance and performing arts. It is brought into the present day in a completely new way: the original work is now incorporated into the new piece Hysteria Mundi.
New materials and various art forms create a broad framework around the original work, adding new meanings and layers, and forming a new, exciting and surprising work that reflects the original work’s 35-year history within the global context, as well as the changes to the Earth and the biosphere over this period.
Script, choreography and direction: Sanna Kekäläinen
Text: Kari Hukkila
Performers: Lea Pekkala, Janne Marja-aho, Eero Vesterinen, Sanna Kekäläinen
Music: Aulis Sallinen, Surma
Lighting design: Tuittu Teivainen
