Mikko Joensuu – A la Malmi

Mikko Joensuu is an acclaimed singer-songwriter whose latest album, Long Ark, was released in January 2024 following a seven-year hiatus.
The 82-minute album, comprising ten tracks, features chamber folk music orchestrated with strings and wind instruments. Joensuu, who accompanies himself on piano and guitar, has a penchant for epic expression, and the album has indeed garnered praise in Finland and abroad alike. The album release concert at Musiikkitalo in Helsinki was sold out.
“The ‘Long Ark’ theme means two things to me; the great ark of human consciousness, or a boat in which every person can, for a brief moment, be a conscious being and explore connection, meaning and their own existence.”
Mikko Joensuu
Mikko Joensuu’s Amen album trilogy, released between 2015 and 2017, was a unique work of art that earned its creator, amongst other honours, the Teosto Prize. The artist is also known as the singer in the band Joensuu 1685.
